Syncope

A sudden, brief loss of consciousness is a fairly common event in children, frightening to parents but typically not a cause for medical alarm. In this talk on syncope in the young, pediatric cardiologist and electrophysiologist Walter Li, MD, explains why expensive workups are often unnecessary and describes how providers can use a few basic tools, such as the family history, to determine whether a serious – usually cardiac – issue should be investigated.
