The UCSF Northern California Pediatric Hospital Medicine Consortium formed in 2013 to increase collaboration among pediatric hospitalists at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals and affiliated community hospitals across the region. The primary goal of the consortiums is to standardize care and eliminate unwanted variation in clinical practice within and across institutions for common pediatric conditions treated in pediatric inpatient hospital settings. A secondary goal includes building relationships and community amongst community hospitals who share a common goal of providing the best evidence-based care for their patients.
Representatives from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals and affiliated hospitals currently meet every 2 months to develop consensus clinical care guidelines on selected conditions with a focus on community-based hospital medicine. Content is derived from medical literature review and integration of current national practice standards with input from local topic experts.
Consensus clinical practice guidelines are reviewed periodically to ensure they remain consistent with current medical literature, national guidelines, and updates in local practices. New and revised guidelines will be posted on this site as they become available.
