Meet Dr. Roxanna Irani, a perinatologist who cares for pregnant women and their developing fetuses. She specializes in treating expectant mothers with health conditions that can affect pregnancy, women whose pregnancies are considered high risk and those who develop pregnancy-related diseases, as well as fetuses with health problems.
How are you? Good. I'm Roxana Arani, and I'm a high risk obstetrician, so that means that I take care of women who have complications during their pregnancy or if something's wrong with the baby before it's born, we help manage and make a plan to keep everybody safe. How's baby doing? Feeling baby move? Uh yeah, I think I just. Started feeling good. I grew up being a lifeguard and enjoying that aspect being outdoors and you can help people, you know, there's a bit of medicine even in lifeguarding and so I think that that started things. Are you feeling any of that wiggling? All those feet are are moving, that's for sure. There's not a single day where I get up and I'm like, oh, do I have to go to work today? That has literally never happened and I'm so thankful that I'm Somebody who loves their job even on hard days. Sometimes hard days are kind of the best days because what I can bring is knowledge and confidence and calmness. I always half joke that every time you walk on to labor and delivery, it's a complete tornado. You don't know what you're going to get. There's always chaos and so part of my job is the calm in the storm, and I love that. Looking really good. That's what I do and I think I do it well and so I hope that I can continue to do that until I retire.
